PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT
SAELC is a community based centre run in conjunction with Sunnybank Anglican Church. Although we practice the Christian religion, we welcome all nationalities and beliefs. As a government approved kindergarten program our staff are formally trained in Early Childhood Education.
Our SAELC philosophy is to promote development and learning based on the child’s individual needs in a warm and relaxed environment, while building confidence, happiness and fostering potential so that they are secure and happy to learn without inhibition. Our programs address the physical, social, emotional, language, cognitive and creative development of each child.
Through self-selected play the children learn to become skillful with their bodies, explore new interests, try out new ideas, communicate their feelings, reason and problem solve and think creatively. This encourages them to take responsibility and accept consequences based on their stage of development. Therefore stimulating their motivation to learn. They are encouraged to bring interesting things from home.
SAELC involves the parents and community in the planning and implementation of the program, so as to encourage a greater understanding of Early Childhood principles and practices and subsequently the child. Communication with parents and between staff is essential to ensure a clear understanding of goals and the methods of achieving them.
